Going Beyond ChatGPT: Understanding How AI and Machine Learning can Transform Student Recruitment and Experience

What to Expect

Many of us will have started to explore the potential of generative AI in supporting our recruitment goals. But much of the focus is just on generative AI - like chatGPT and midjourney - and steers us to think about its potential for content creation. In this talk Tracy Playle will examine the potential of machine learning and generative AI in its fullest sense. From audience and market research, to segmentation. From recommendation engines, to early warning interventions when a student is at risk of dropping out. When used ethically and robustly, AI and machine learning have the potential to transform how we manage the student lifecycle. But to get there, we have to expand our imagination far beyond chatGPT.

In this session you will:

  • Understand multiple different applications of AI and machine learning for the student lifecycle

  • Consider the impact of student uses of AI on their application and admissions experience

  • Expand your knowledge of AI - and how it works - that goes beyond just thinking about generative AI

  • Know how to apply your expertise as a domain expert in collaborating to design AI solutions.
